Andhra Pradesh state eligibility test

Eligibility

(i) Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or an equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC. For (BC) /(SC)/ (ST)/Transgender/ (PwD) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.

(ii) Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course or appearing for their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test. Candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of eligibility for Assistant Professor only after they have passed their Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of BC/SC/ ST/PwD category candidates). Such candidates must complete their Master's degree or equivalent examination within 2 years from the date of SET result. 

(iii) Candidates belonging to the transgender category would be eligible to draw the same relaxation in fee, age and qualifying criteria for SET (i.e. Assistant Professor) as are available to SC/ST/PwD categories. The subject wise cut-offs for this category should be the lowest among those for SC/ST/PwD/BC categories in the corresponding subject.


(iv) The Ph.D. holders whose Master’s level examination has been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.


(v) Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their Post-Graduation only. 

(vi) There is no upper age limit for applying for eligibility for the test.

 

The qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the universities/ colleges situated in the Andhra Pradesh state from where they have cleared their SET.

 

 

The SET would be conducted only in the following 30 subjects listed below. The candidates are supposed to appear for only one subject from the list. These subjects are listed below:

The medium of Question Paper

The question paper - I will be bilingual (English and Telugu).

Paper-II for the following subjects

 a) Commerce

 b) Economics

c) Education

d) History

e) Political Science

 f) Public Administration and

 g) Sociology will be bilingual (English and Telugu).

 

*All the remaining papers are in only English except for Hindi, Sanskrit, Telugu, and Urdu.

 

Scheme of Examination

Paper-I shall be consists of the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and GA/GK of the candidate. There will be 50 objective type questions in Paper-I.

Paper-II shall consist of 100 objective type questions based on the subject selected by the candidate.

Each question will carry 2 marks.

There is no negative marking.
