26 January aka Republic Day is around the corner and
its the time when we all Indians search for Winners of Padma Awards.
Although, the final list of names of
the Recipients (Winners) of this years Padma Awards (Padma Awards
2015) will be announced on the Eve of 66th Republic Day, i.e., on January
25, the details are out…
The Padma awards which are given in three
categories, namely, Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma
Vibhushan, are civilian awards for a broad set of achievements in fields
such as Education, Arts, Civil Service, or Social Service.
This year on the occasion of the 66th Republic Day,
President of India, Pranab Mukherjee has approved conferment of Padma Awards to
104 persons as per the list below.
The list comprises of 9 Padma Vibhushan, 20 Padma
Bhushan and 75 Padma Shri Awardees.
17 of the awardees are women and the list also
includes 17 persons from the category of foreigners, NRIs, PIOs and 4
Posthumous awardees.
Every year, the names of Recipients
of Padma Awards are
announced on the Eve of Republic Day and then they are presented to the
recipients by Hon’ble President of India in an Awards presentation Ceremony
held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, generally in the month of March/April.
Padma Shri is awarded for ‘distinguished service’, Padma
Bhushan is awarded for ‘distinguished service of a high order’ while
the Padma Vibhushan is awarded for ‘exceptional and distinguished
service.
